The Dyson DC25 Animal Ball- A Pet Owner’s Dyson Vacuum
Posted in Dyson Vacuum Review on February 14th, 2011 by RoscoND – Be the first to commentIf you have read my other posts about the Dyson DC25 Ball- you will see that the same information applies to the Animal Ball, as far as specifics and description.
In fact, the only real difference as far as the vacuum itself is… THE COLOR!
Its purple. A nice shade of purple at that. And according to the box, the vacuum is designed for pets. So what is the difference, other than packaging?
Well, very little, in fact, the difference is the DC25 Animal Ball has a turbine vacuum powered brush that you can use to get pet hair off upholstery, bedding and fabrics- it also has a stair tool, just like the other DC25, which is standard on the Animal Ball as well.
The turbine brush is a helpful tool, it runs off the suction power of the vacuum to create a rotating brush to get rid of pet hair.
So, that is just about it, the added turbine brush is what makes the Animal Ball different from the regular DC25. And it is a little more expensive as well, roughly $50.00 more, give or take. If you would like to see the best pricing for the DC25 Animal Ball, visit this Amazon link.
Here is the official list of features on the DC25 Animal Ball:
Dyson’s signature Ball technology, this upright vacuum cleaner easily twists and turns around furniture and obstacles for thorough cleaning throughout the house–no more missed angles or tiresome back-and-forth vacuuming. Its ball design encapsulates the machine’s powerful motor, creating a low center of gravity for even easier maneuverability. Designed for homes with pets, the unit’s motorized brushbar features powerful bristles that remove dirt and pet hair from carpets, while its mini turbine head thoroughly cleans confined spaces such as upholstery, stairs, and the car. It also supplies a quick-draw Telescope Reach wand, which expands to offer 16 feet of reach for stairs, drapes, upholstery, and more. The vacuum cleaner uses Root Cyclone technology to separate dirt from the air by centrifugal force, which ensures efficient cleaning with no clogging or loss of suction.
For cleaner expelled air, the unit comes with a washable lifetime HEPA filter that traps microscopic allergens such as pollen and bacteria. In fact, the air expelled from a Dyson has up to 150 times less bacteria and mold than the air you breathe, and all Dyson uprights are certified asthma friendly by the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America. The unit’s hygienic 1/3-gallon bin quickly empties without ever having to touch the dust–just press the button and dust empties from the bottom; the clear polycarbonate bin also allows for easily viewing the cleaning progress and gauging when it needs to be emptied.
Other highlights include fingertip controls, a constant suction power of 220 air watts, a 24-3/5-foot cord, a maximum reach of 40-2/7 feet, and a lightweight design at only 16-1/8 pounds. On-board accessory tools include a combination tool and a stair tool attachment. The vacuum cleaner measures 12-1/5 by 15-2/5 by 42-2/5 inches and carries a five-year parts-and-labor warranty.

From Tiger…
I have owned 2 cheap-o (less than $100) cleaners over the past two years. One was bagged and the other was bagless. They were both CRAP! I would have to take part the vacuum and unclog it just to get moderate suction power. In the end all i was left with was carpeting that looked clean at first glance…simply because of the vacuum track marks. But when i would closely inspect the carpet, it was nasty. Still covered in dog hair and dust! I wasn’t able to vacuum our dog’s hair to save my life and it was starting to stress me out. I gave in and started to research online for a new… Read The Rest Of The Review At Amazon
From SkyNite…
I’ve used the DC25 Animal for a couple of weeks now. Before purchasing, I read the reviews here, the negative ones especially carefully.
Regarding the broken belt reports, those just have to be false. There are no belts in this design; the beater bar is direct-drive and conveniently switchable.
The integrated handle and extension wand do seem odd at first, but they really become very easy to use after doing it a time or two. The hose is stiff, but it works and has a good reach.
While the collection bin does seem on the small side, we have found that the hair and debris becomes very compressed at the bottom of the bin, so we really don’t need to dump the bin any more often than with previous vacuums.
And giving the collection bin a couple of … Read The Rest Of The Review At Amazon
